What this page can — and can't — promise
- The key is the part of the link after the #. Browsers never send that part to any server, and link previews in chat apps never get it — so a preview can't open or burn the note.
- Our relay stores only the sealed note and a hash of a proof of the key. It sees when a note is created, its size class (1, 4, 16 or 64 KB) and when it is opened or expires — not the words, not the password, not who you are.
- The code that seals and opens notes is sent by our server each time this page loads. In the app it was installed once. If a server you don't control is part of what you defend against, use the app.
- Over a normal connection our server sees your IP address (we don't log it). To hide it, use Tor Browser — the .onion address works the same way.
- "Gone" means our relay deletes the note at the first successful opening. That is our promise, which you can't verify — so the note is encrypted anyway.
